It is required to upgrade your main battery wires when installing a high output alternator with at least a "Big 3" upgrade.
Factory alternators are not even capable of 100 amps of current at idle. This presents a problem as power hungry aftermarket upgrades are added. A 9.5k winch pulls almost 400 amps under full load and many high powered lighting upgrades pull 25 amps (for 300W of lighting output). Car audio systems are also known for pulling a lot of power.
Snowbound Customs is now offering premium JS Alternators for Toyota Platforms.
Hairpin units are commonly called 6 phase. They produce more output at idle and are more efficient than a conventional alternator. These hairpin units feature premium bearings to withstand high engine rpm and utilize dual plate rectifier with 12 heavy duty diodes for improved cooling. Hairpin Units are a more reliable alternator to withstand high heat, high demand for car audio, marine, and racing applications.
It is required to use a 1/2" shorter alternator belt. High output alternators use a smaller pulley to provide much higher loads at a low engine RPM. You can find this at a local automotive store for about $20. You will also need some spacers for the mounting hardware.
All alternators are BUILT TO ORDER and guaranteed to fit. Since these are built to order, please expect a 2-3 week lead time with additional time for powder coating if selected.
Warranty Information
All JS Alternators come with a lifetime warranty on Js Alternators employee labor and a one year warranty on parts.
Powder coat is guaranteed for 3 months from date of purchase.
6 month Warranty on Externally regulated alternators.
Original invoice or copy of original invoice must be included in order to receive warranty service.
The following will void any and all warranties:
- Improper installation
- Improper belt length
- Improper wiring
- Changing parts on the alternator, including pulley and regulator
- Any unauthorized modifications
- Painting or powder coating the alternator by an outside party
- Misuse or abuse of the alternator
This warranty does not cover other parts or equipment on the vehicle and it does not cover labor expenses related to the removal or installation of the alternator.
